Matrix Design Group Unveils OmniPro Collision Avoidance System with Visual Artificial Intelligence

The cutting-edge Visual Artificial Intelligence (Visual AI) application allows for line-of-travel, crosswalk, and blind-spot pedestrian and vehicle warning in any industrial scenario.

FREMONT, CA: Matrix Design Group, a leading technology provider for mining and industrial safety and productivity, has unveiled its new collision avoidance system for facilities, OmniPro. This cutting-edge Visual Artificial Intelligence (Visual AI) application allows for line-of-travel, crosswalk, and blind-spot pedestrian and vehicle warning in any industrial scenario.

The OmniPro system, which consists of up to three 120° field-of-view cameras, functions without the use of personal wearable devices or tags. OmniPro sees and identifies persons and threats, providing visible and aural alerts and photos and reports on violations. The 2020 NIOSH Technology Innovations Award went to Matrix’s OmniPro MAX, a mining-related use of this technology.

“Today, company leaders recognize that prevention is the most effective strategy to combat the high human and financial costs of facility accidents,” said David Clardy, President, Matrix Design Group. “Those investing in safety will see OmniPro’s Visual AI system as an indispensable tool, not only in helping protect workers and equipment but also for supporting Near-Miss Reporting Programs and other safety initiatives.”

OmniPro has been taught to detect and report on a library of things using its Visual AI object recognition technology, including people, forklifts, automobiles, stop signs, and pedestrian signs. The user can choose what will be included in the warning and whether it will be visible or audible, with the latter being programmable to any audio sound. OmniPro’s wireless system can also activate a stop sign, pedestrian light, voice alarm, or crossing arm, depending on the facility’s demands. All breaches are documented with time stamped photographs and reports.

“OmniPro is effective on many levels,” said Brian Jones, Vice President of Business Development, Matrix Design Group. “Our customers have told us it brings awareness to workers and helps them feel the company is investing in their safety. In addition, OmniPro’s photos and reports can be an important piece of an integrated safety system, where incidents are recorded and reviewed and provide insights for additional safety training as needed.”

Through its programmable field-of-view zone grid configuration tool, OmniPro’s configurable solution can be changed to fit any operational environment, allowing it to meet the safety standards of many industries.
